2007 Pinot Noir, La Encantada Vineyard, Sta Rita Hills
A certified organic site, the La Encantada vineyard is located on the western end of the Santa Rita Hills, part of the Santa Ynez Mountains of Southern California. In this location, the vines are bathed by the cooler winds from the coast as they travel through the Santa Ynez River Valley, mellowing the higher temperatures sometimes seen in this region. The 2007 growing season produced a wine notable for its black fruit aromas followed by flavors of cola and spice complemented by cherry undertones. Well structured with bold tannins, our La Encantada Pinot Noir pairs wonderfully with lighter beef dishes and wild game such as venison, but will reward a few years of patience in the cellar.

90 Points, Wine Enthusiast
Here’s a fresh, young, complicated Pinot Noir, dry and silky, and quite rich. The flavors now are all primary fruit, suggesting cherries, blackberries, raspberries and cola, with smoky sandalwood overtones. Needs time to develop complexity, and could age beyond 2012.
